About
Our goal is to provide a venue to support, encourage and enable commerce for designers.
The idea for the website developed from the need to build awareness and a greater sense of community to ‘Gather Magazine’, whilst also meeting the requirements set out in creating a website for the Digital Literacy unit at Swinburne University.
Researching and analysing our five favourite websites assisted in creating a basic criterion list to be considered when creating our own website. The design and format, viewer interaction and marketing were the aspects examined. Key insights gained whilst researching the industry, stakeholders and target market further developed the criterion, setting the requirements for the website.
Requirements outlined for the design and format of the website included a user friendly site; easy to navigate and reasonably quick to load. The website has achieved this through keeping the website clutter free and designing an interface which captures the users attention, whist staying appropriate for all user skill levels.
Viewer interaction requirements for the website included promoting a multi platform conversation through enabling commenting features and the sharing on social media sites. As seen on the website these features have been included on each of the designer profile pages as well as the ‘Markets’ and ‘Suppliers’ pages.
Requirements for marketing included keeping the website constant with ‘Gather Magazine’ branding. This can been seen through the layout and formatting chosen for the site as well as with the logo created.
Other requirements the website has met includes the database provided for markets and suppliers, the use of in-text links and providing contact details for direct communication.
In keeping with assignment requirements, all content on website was developed by Annastasia. The profiles have been created by myself, though in future these will be created by the designer. Screen shots have been used for images for ‘Gather Magazine’ issues, ‘Shop’ page images, both markets and The Fabric Store logos, along with the ‘Now In Store!’ images on the Anna Devine profile.
